How many of you are waiting for your tax refund?

The biggest issue for most people is what are they going to use their tax refund for?

As I have stated in the past, if your tax refund fully satisfies your debt, which will make you debt free, then I urge you to use the refund to get current on your payments or out of debt.

A few examples are as follows:

If you are behind $5,000 on your electric bill and Atlantic Electric is ready to shut you off, then definitely use your tax refund to get caught up and avoid shut-off. However, if the payment on your tax refund only temporarily delays shut off and does not get you totally current, then it is not in your best interest to use the refund for that purpose.

The same thing applies to your mortgage. If you are behind $4,000 and the refund will get you totally current, then definitely use the refund to get totally current. However, making a partial payment won’t resolve the situation.

Also, it is not advisable to make minimal payments on credit card debt if you are still behind since it does not put a dent in principal.

If you cannot get totally current on your debt, then you should use your tax refund to file a bankruptcy petition since it takes a universal approach and will deal with all your creditors so you will not have to rob Peter to pay Paul.

For example, the bankruptcy will totally stop the utility company from shutting you off, stop the mortgage company from instituting foreclosure and stop any other creditor from pursuing you. The bankruptcy Stay will deal with ALL YOUR CREDITORS.

If you are behind on your debts and your tax refund will not get you totally current, or you are just overwhelmed with any other debt, it is urgent that you contact Taieb Law for a FREE consultation so he can advise you of your rights under the bankruptcy code.
